On Friday May 27, 2016, Queens College will host its annual Mathematics Competition. The event is open only to high schools in Queens.

Below is a schedule from a previous year and some other information.
The event will consist of individual and team competitions. The team size is six per school, and one alternate. The alternate members compete on equal footing in the individual event, and join other alternates to compete in the team event. (The alternate teams often do quite well in the team event.) All students receive certificates, and each team receives a book award. Students may compete at three levels, where level one is the most advanced.

8:00 – 8:50 Registration, setup and refreshments
9:00 – 9:05 Introductions and instructions
Individual Competition (two problems in each 15 minute segment)
9:05 – 9:20 Part 1
9:25 – 9:40 Part 2
9:45 – 10:00 Part 3
10:05 – 10:20 Part 4
10:25 – 10:40 Part 5
10:40 – 10:45 Distribution of solutions
10:45 – 11:15 break (no refreshments, as lunch is near)
Team Competition (eight or so problems)
11:15 – 11:20 Instructions
11:20 – 11:50 Team Event
11:50 – 12:00 Distribution of solutions
12:00 – 12:30 Lunch
12:30 – 1:00 Talk (mathematical presentation)
1:00 – 1:20 Award presentations
The team competition consists of 8 problems. All members of the team may work together to complete the problems, and answers must be entered on a single sheet to be provided.
All students will receive personalized certificates of participation, and awards will be presented to the individual and team winners.
